Singer and songwriter Karla Agee-Seldon from Youngstown, Ohio native gives audiences’ chills. Aside from Karla’s soulful tone, her soft soprano vibrato is just what R&B needs right now. Many singers today sing in monotone voices without showcasing much range or blending different tones together. Karla mixes a soulful and sultry sound creating a tone that is uniquely her own. The singer cites Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Stokely, Luther Vandross, and Aretha Franklin as musical influences. Although music giants Luther Vandross and Aretha Franklin are no longer with us, Karla follows in their footsteps reminding listeners that R&B Soul is alive and well. Besides R&B, she sings Gospel, Jazz, Blues and Neo Soul.
She has opened for James Cleveland, Little Richard, Ranch Allen, Mighty Clouds of Joy, Danniebelle Hall, Nancy Wilson, Ali Woodson, Reynaldo Rey, Lou Rawls, Stevie Wonder under Motor City Magic Band, Josephine "Banig" Roberto, Miki Howard, Thelma Houston, Mattie Moss Clark and the Clark Sisters via Michael Johnson. Karla’s early start in the music industry began at a church where singing became her solace at the tender age of 11 years old. Karla attributes her aim for success in the music industry to a founding member of the original band War, and cousin Harold Brown.
